Women’s Ski Camps with Jessica Baker

Women's BIPOC Ski and Snowboard Camp Tetons, WY March 2021

Supporting diversity, inclusion, and opportunity for BIPOC women in winter outdoor spaces. Scholarships application period open from Nov 11 to Dec 11 2020.

BIPOC ski camp 2020

In an effort to bring more opportunity, diversity, and inclusivity to winter outdoor recreation spaces, Ski Divas LLC, Women’s Ski Camps Worldwide and Ski Divas founder, Jessica Baker, will offer a new ski and snowboard camp this coming year specifically for women who are Black, Indigenous, or other Women of Color (BIWOC) from March 19-21, 2021 based in Jackson, WY and the Tetons. This camp is open to skiers and snowboarders, from first time beginners to advanced levels.

We will spend three days based in the Tetons near Jackson, WY learning how to ski or ride or improve your skills if you are an experienced skier or snowboarder. We are also aiming to provide a backcountry component for those interested. Ski area instruction will take place at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort and Snow King Mountain. Evening workshops and self care routines will be offered. More camp details to come…

Ski Divas, along with supporting sponsors, are offering three full-ride scholarships for women to attend this inaugural camp. Full scholarship recipients will have their travel, accommodation, coaches/instructor/guides, lift tickets, and gear costs covered in full. If additional funds remain after the first three scholarship recipients, partial financial support will be offered to runners up.

Scholarship requirements:

  1. Must be a woman, 21 years of age or older.
  2. Must be a person of color, Indigenous, Black, or from underrepresented communities.
  3. Must have personal motivation to learn in the ski or snowboarding disciplines.
  4. Must be a citizen or permanent resident of the United States of America, includes DACA.
  5. Must complete and submit the scholarship application by December 11, 2020.

If you wish to receive a paper copy of the scholarship application with a pre-stamped return envelope please call 307-690-3683 to request one. The application period is open from Nov 11 to Dec 11, 2020. Scholarship recipients will be announced by January 25, 2021.

COVID Precautions- We will take every step necessary to keep people safe during this ski camp, however we cannot mitigate all risk involved with COVID-19. We will be abiding by all state and county health guidelines during this ski camp. If for some reason we are not able to run this camp due to unforeseen circumstances in relation to the pandemic, then we will roll scholarships to 2022. If you are sick or cannot attend due to exposure to the Coronavirus prior to the ski camp we will roll your scholarship to 2022. If you are concerned about Covid-19 and the Coronavirus and do not wish to take the extra risk to attend the camp this year, we are planning to run the camp again in 2022, we are hoping this is the start to one of many.
